Front suspension Right side

Hope you all had a great weekend!

Played around with the center console on Sunday just to play in the garage a bit, the old parking brake 'boot' was an interesting piece that looked a little bit home made and was loose so time to go and replace it with the correct piece.  Cleaned it all up and removed layers of old glue then wiped it all down with a bit of solvent.  Contact cement should keep this piece in place for another 40 years-I hope ;-)

Got a little bit done on the suspension today, waiting for some parts from SNG and will keep pushing forward.  I know that Chuck would like to have the car back by Friday but I just don't think that's going to work and having communicated with Chuck I think we're on the same page about getting this stuff done.

Here's the new gator for the parking brake

Decided to glue the edges of the vinyl down too

On to the suspension, I was going to see about reusing the old bearings

I'm glad we decided to replace them, I've seen much worse but this one has a line in the rollers  that looks like some kind of debris got in it....

This is another one of those "what were they thinking" sort of things, chisel marks in the seal seat?  I just don't know what they were trying to do.

Getting the inner fenders out of the way.

Caliper and rotor out of the way, all the split pins removed.  If i get a little time tomorrow should be able to get it stripped down and ready for the bushings.

That's it for today.   Drew, thanks for the comment, I don't think they have washers under them either. Interestingly the bolts that I think are correct fit properly without the washers.

Cheers,
Lynn

  1. A fresh parking brake boot makes the car look so much better along with the vinyl being glued down properly. I've gradually done that to my car and it sure helps the interior appearance. Still a few things to go. I replaced all my bearings a few years ago and recently greased them all and they are still just fine 15K miles later. Getting those inner fenders out of the way sure helps access doesn't it?
