B Pillar weather stripping, plus a few other issues that should be addressed at some point.
First I'll start off with Drew's comment from yesterdays post, for some reason my replies disappear into the 'ether'. Drew wrote "David sure knows his E-Types and you do as well. I aspire to both your levels, but have a long way to go. Plus both you and David have documented your work extensively and I use your sites fairly often when undertaking a difficult task on my car. Maybe Erica and I can document her engine removal that is coming up just to get the work process down with photos. David has done this with his car, but took out the picture frame. We plan to leave it in place and lift the front of Erica's car so the engine can be rolled away on a dolly.
Nice work, Lynn. CJ is getting better every day."

Thanks Drew, I have found your thoughtful input to be extremely helpful as well-Thanks and keep them coming.
Today I was planning on winding up with CJ so that Chuck can get his car prepared for the car show he's going to enter this weekend. Next time we'll address the front suspension and if Chuck is so inclined some of the other issues that he might want to consider.
CJ's 'B' pillar seal was damaged and didn't fit well so that was one of the things Chuck asked me to address. The old seal came out easy enough but getting a 'clean' surface to attach the new one took a bit more time. I'll let the photos do the talking this evening.
I was going to include pictures of some of the things that I would suggest that we consider at a future date but it's easier to just list them. For starters:
*Paint the heater inlet form the bonnet black
*Install splash pans as needed
*Install rubber splash 'seals' on the inside fenders where required.
The old seal has seen better days |
Protecting the painted surface and cleaning the channel |
I thought it was interesting to see a seal with a Leaper on it |
The seal has been cleaned of it's mold release agent and stretched to make it fit properly |
New weather stripping |
*Paint the heater inlet form the bonnet black
*Install splash pans as needed
*Install rubber splash 'seals' on the inside fenders where required.
Well that's it for now
Cheers,
Lynn

New door seals sure help. I was in a rush preparing my car for the last tour and forgot to add the lower door seals. When the weather turned cold after Phoenix the cold breeze came right up to chill Mary and me all the way through the rest of the tour along with water during the heavy rains. That was the first thing I fixed after we got home. And my heater inlet was also painted blue for some unknown reason by a previous owner. I removed the paint and sprayed it with wrinkle black and now it looks a heck of a lot better.
